Have you have noticed the lack of critical evaluation for artist books?

There is a quarterly, Artists’ Books Reviews, that supplies comments and evaluations of artists’ books. "I hope that this publication," writes editor Joe D’Ambrosio, "will clear up misconceptions about the concept of artists’ books, and create a climate conducive to their prospering."

Joe is especially qualified to direct this project. After a 30-year career of producing imaginatively designed and exquisitely produced artist books he is devoting his energies to other projects, including this one.

I was pleased to see the first issue in Autumn 2000 and my enthusiasm for the project has only increased with each new issue. I contributed to the most recent one devoted to tunnel books.
