Slaves runaway by following the North Star which is on the Drinking Gourd. These two slaves (husband and wife) is following the Drinking Gourd to go to the north to be FREE!

There was a nurse named Clara Barton. She found a wounded soldier got shot on the battlefield. So she is getting the bullet out of him.

       
THE WHIPPING

A slave didn't work fast enough in the cotton fields. So the master called a whipping at dawn. At sundown, the slaves gathered up to watch, a horrible whipping began.

THE SHINING NIGHT OF WORK

It was a beautiful night. The stars were shining brightly. But the slaves still had to do work. They gazed at the stars and soon wondered if the days of freedom would come.
